With 275 kilometers of coastline washed by the high waves of the Atlantic Ocean, the South West will delight lovers of sandy beaches and water sports. Windsurfing and surfing are indeed very popular sports off Biarritz, Hossegor or Biscarosse. The Aquitaine coast, dubbed the "Silver Coast" because of the silvery ocean, consists of vast sandy beaches, perfect for swimming and sunbathing, and high dunes from which the iconic dune Pyla, the highest dune in Europe with points rising to over 110 meters above sea level
But once we abandon the coast, we enter a land of good food where you can appreciate the great wines of Bordeaux and foie gras from the Gers and Perigord. The Southwest is full of beautiful places and historical heritage of incomparable richness with beautiful towns and villages such as Perigueux, Sarlat or Romieu, archaeological sites of the Dordogne, with the cave of Lascaux and Les Eyzies , Bayonne and its cathedral, or the walled city of Lectoure. Not forgetting Toulouse, the pink city that bathes the Canal du Midi.
Whether you prefer the sea or the countryside, the South West is full of opportunities for camping enthusiasts. And just as many ways to travel the region, whether canoeing on the Dordogne, cycling on bike paths that run through the Landes forest or on hikes in the delicate rolling countryside of the Gers.
